Picnic in Helena
On Saturday morning I went on a run with some ladies from church in Helena, which is pretty close to where we live. The town was so cute and I found the perfect picnic spot! After church I packed our lunch and we headed to Ol' Town Helena!

Gracie's 1st Level 3 Competition
Gracie competed for the first time in Alabama a couple of weeks ago at her home gym, it was also her first level 3 competition. We had to be at the gym by 7:40 am, so it was an early one. Gracie placed first on floor! She says floor is her favorite event this year, not bars anymore (I think they are her least favorite this year). Even with a slip on the bars she came in 4th, she placed 4th on beam, and 3rd all around. As usual we are very proud!

Zac's 10th Birthday
Wow, we have a 10 year old!!! AHHH, three more years and we will have a teenager. Time needs to slow down just a tad. Zac is a Labor Day baby, so planning a celebration is always interesting with a holiday and college football starting. We decided since we are in a new city and we don't really know a lot of people yet this would be a simple celebration. What was supposed to be simple almost turned into a week long celebration, but that's ok. The weekend before his birthday we hit the AL State Fair with the Beard's and then Chance stayed over that night with us. I made a HUGE icecream sandwich birthday cake (no pics, oops). It was so big we ate on it all week, and we had help from Chance and Taylor one day after school. On Zac's actual birthday I woke up a little early and made homemade pancakes, even Daddy joined in on the feast. Wyatt and I took cupcakes (made by Gracie) to school for his class during lunch. That night we went out for BBQ and headed to the Oak Mountain High School Eagle football game. Zac was able to hang out with a few of his buds from his football team. The fact that they are the Eagles and red, white, and blue made us feel right at home. Zac was even surprised with mail! Thanks to Papa, Nana, Mama, and the Cardoza's!

1st Day of School 2011
It's hard to believe the summer is over and school is back in session. It's an extremely different year for me, as I am unemployed. I missed getting my classroom ready, meeting new students, and my awesome Wakulla High colleagues. Gracie was had been counting down the days since August 1st. Zac was dreading school, but I think he is adjusting well. I only snapped a few pics before the bus arrived. I apologize for the quality, our camera tends to fog up now.

Our summer!
First of all, I want to thank all of our friends in Wakulla that partied with us until the end, you guys really showed us your love! Our summer began with a bang for sure! On June 2nd we packed up the last of our stuff and started out for Birmingham. Unfortunately Wes's fish did not survive and his plants took quite a beating. The Beards' were gracious enough to let my wild family of five live with them for TWO WEEKS! Could you imagine us at your house for two weeks? Gracie started gymnastics the first Monday we were in town, and how lucky we were to find a gym just 1.5 miles from our home. They are already talking about her joining the TOPS program. We started moving in to our new home on June 15th. Granny, Granda, P-pa, and Winter stopped in for a quick visit on their way home from West Virginia. Most of our summer days have been spent swimming at the Y, playing at the park, watching movies, and organizing our new house. For the week of 4th of July we were able to head to some bigger hills in Mentone, AL with the Beards to celebrate our Nation's birthday as well as Chance's 10th! Chris's Aunt Regina hosted us at her lake house for a cookout, swimming, and fireworks as well as for Chance's party the next day. Chris's parents Cindy and Wayne, and his Aunt Tracey and Uncle Scott made us an awesome brunch with yogurt parfaits, pancakes, bacon, sausage, and eggs and then for dinner we had grilled chicken, homemade mac-n-cheese, broccoli salad, and peach cobbler! We were really spoiled! We were able to see three fireworks celebrations from the dock at the lake. While in Mentone we drove over to Chattanooga and visited the aquariam and walked around the Chattanooga Choo-choo! A couple of weeks after that Zac had football camp at Spain Park High School and then practices started two weeks after that, it is definitely hard core here. The end of July brought us very special visitors, the Cardoza's!!! Man it was nice to hug friends that are like family. We met them in Atlanta and did Six Flags, then on Saturday we were pretty lazy except for a near 5 mile run at Veteran's Park. We took them to our new Mexican restuarant, but nothing beats good ol' El Jalisco in Crawfordville, FL. Of course we celebrated Tina's 30th :) that night as well with cake and icecream. Now school is in, pictures to come.
