Today we went over to Christa's house to swim and we ended up bringing home a cute little kitten. Gracie has named her Haley. After swimming and adopting a kitten we went to Mission San Luis (sponsored by our local library). Mission San Luis was the Spanish capital of the west, compared to St. Augustine in the east. The mission was much more primitive than St. Augustine and it incorporated more of the local Appalachee Indian tradition. The picture here is of the Council House. Notice the small opening, this is to keep people from bringing weapons in. The building held about 2,000 people and there was a fire going year round. The fort contained about 50soldiers and the land was cleared two miles around for protection, so they could see what was coming. I suggest that you go and visit if you're in the area, it's free.
